2024 Congressional Scorecard unveiled before Capitol Hill reception
Last night the Faith & Freedom Coalition presented the 2024 “Friend of the Family” Award to U.S. Senators and Representatives with unwavering conservative voting records in the 118th Congress at a celebratory reception on Capitol Hill. The award was given to lawmakers who earned at least a 90% rating according to the newest edition of Faith & Freedom’s biannual Congressional Scorecard, which was released yesterday morning.
“I congratulate each distinguished legislator who earned this award for standing up for conservative principles and demonstrating an unwavering commitment to strengthening families, protecting human life, upholding religious liberty, and supporting our ally Israel,” said Ralph Reed, chairman and founder of the Faith & Freedom Coalition. “Before this fall’s election, our three million members and volunteers will distribute our Congressional Scorecard in churches, town hall meetings, county and state fairs, and shopping centers across our country. With this guide, Christian voters will be equipped with the knowledge and facts needed to be maximally informed and effective citizens.”
Friend of the Family Award recipients in the 118th Congress include, among others, top leadership officials such as House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel (R-KY), House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN), and House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY).
“It’s one thing for members of Congress to say they defend conservative values when they’re back home on the campaign trail, but another thing to actually do it when they go to Washington,” said Faith & Freedom Coalition Executive Director Timothy Head. “The Friend of the Family Award recognizes the lawmakers who back up their words with action where it counts most. As the Left wages relentless war against everything Christians hold dear, advancing concrete policies that support freedom, families, and faith is vital, and our scorecard tells the American people exactly where their representatives stand. It is encouraging to see so many leaders in the 118th Congress standing up for the values and priorities of people of faith.”
In total, 258 Senators and Representatives were recognized with the 2024 Friend of the Family Award.
