Jerusalem – The over 1.7 million members of the pro-Israel Faith & Freedom Coalition are celebrating today’s historic opening of the new United States Embassy in Jerusalem to formally recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Faith & Freedom Coalition Chairman Ralph Reed was on-hand for today’s ceremony dedicating the new embassy opening in Jerusalem and released the following statement.
“We are deeply grateful to President Trump for finally recognizing the reality that Jerusalem is the eternal, indivisible capital of Israel, the homeland of the Jewish people, and that the United States Embassy belongs in Jerusalem, the seat of the Israeli government” said Reed. “The President continues to deliver on his promise to the American people to strengthen the solidarity between the United States and the people of Israel. We are so grateful for President Trump’s pro-Israel stance and his bold leadership in opening the new U.S. embassy in Jerusalem.”
President Trump declared his intention to move the embassy during the 2016 campaign and announced in December that the U.S. Embassy would officially move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and today the new embassy was officially opened.
“Congress authorized the move of the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in 1995 and since then three presidents have refused to execute the congressional mandate, but now thankfully President Trump has delivered on his promise to recognize the holy city of Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel,” said Executive Director Tim Head.
